From List to Tree: A Personal Site Information Structure
Why a personal site can feel more like a living index.
Lists are good for archives. Trees are better for understanding. A list tells you that something happened; a tree shows how things relate.
A personal site does not have to behave like a product homepage or a traditional blog. It can be a growing index: projects as branches, writing as leaves, tags as roots, and time as rings.
When a visitor enters through a tag and leaves through time, they do not only see a resume. They see the shape of a long attention.
